In our series, CI2CI, you get to witness how a real professional studio creates.

An aspiring photographer often has no opportunity to really see and understand the secrets behind the closed doors of a studio, especially one that is headed by a photographer with 40 years of experience and is still creating award-winning images to this day.

This isn’t just an exercise in creativity— it also includes all those little setbacks and challenges that must be overcome during the photography session to take an image from good to great.

One-on-One Mentoring

JB’s vision is to take you beyond the fundamentals and have you shooting like an artist. You will come out of this one-on-one mentoring session with not only increased knowledge and skill, but stunning photography of your own to add to your portfolio.

One-on-One Mentoring has become one of the most popular workshops that John Barrett offers. It is a face to face studio experience that lasts four hours. In that time, John Barrett provides you with a personal and custom ‘Mastershot Workshop’.

JB realised that it is almost impossible for a keen photographer without a studio to get the experience he desires, photographing a professional talent in a fully equipped professional studio. Even if the photographer were to invest the money, they still wouldn’t have an experienced photography mentor to lead them through all the aspects that are so important to the progression of their photography.

As a photography mentor, John Barrett provides just that experience. He delves into his vast experience and knowledge of photography to create a bespoke event focussed on the subject in which you are most interested.

Mastershot Workshop Face to Face

Based on the Gold Coast in Australia, John Barrett’s face to face photography workshops teach you the photographic recipe to go beyond technique and start shooting like a true artist.

In a full working studio environment, you will experience the energy and creativity of being in a real professional photographic studio and working ‘hands on’ with professional talent to capture images beyond that which you imagined achievable.

The photography workshops are conducted as group sessions with no more than six like-minded attendees or as One-on-One Mentoring tailored even more specifically to your personal creativity.

Each attendee in either face-to-face photography course receives a 60 page eBook workshop Manual which comprehensively documents all the subjects covered on the day.
